The Jesuit Blue Jays versus the Holy Cross Tigers series is one of the oldest continuous high school football rivalries known to exist anywhere in the USA. We are committed to listing all of the games of this historic series. We do this to honor the memory of all of the people who have participated or currently participate in this rich tradition, whether as players, teachers, coaches, officials, support staff, bandsmen, spectators, family members, and any other interested parties.
MEMO FROM YOUR WEBPAGE EDITOR:
After I began designing this website in 2003, I've kept it going by finding the account of the annual Jesuit vs. Holy Cross contest in the local newspaper. The current edition, including the 2021 game, which was played October 1, is finally my last. I'm now turning the site over to a good friend, Tony Stoltz. Tony is a Holy Cross grad and is particularly keen on area high school sports. He has produced and edited many documents that have become essential to the sports history of the New Orleans area. He probably knows as many Tiger athletes and coaches as anyone else in the history of New Orleans sports. I had indicated a few months ago that I was going to be giving up this pursuit due to my health and Tony contacted me about taking it over. I've known Tony for many years, as he is a CPA and was a treasured client of my data processing business, which I had operated for many years until selling it thirty years ago. So Tony and I feel at home talking about tax preparation as well as prep sports. I am fully confident that this website will not only survive, but will be rejuvenated by his competent dedication to excellence.
AS I sign off, I wish to acknowledge my late friend, Dick Daigre, who had made trips to the Jefferson Parish library to obtain the initial game accounts for this site; also another lifelong friend, Jim Moore, who has assisted with proofreading and organizing.
It's been a pleasure to be in contact with so many interesting people who showed such keen interest in this project. Thank you.
